Hey Runners,
If there was one tiny habit, that would make you run faster than anything else, would you do it?
Most runners won't.
But after coaching 1,000+ athletes, I’ve seen that those who do this simple thing consistently outperform everyone else.
So today I'm gonna show you exactly what it is and how to do it yourself, so that you can tap into the same power as Olympians.
To Simplify The Idea Let Me Tell You A Short Story
During my pro career I raced two athletes at the top of their game.
The first was clearly the most talented and everyone thought he’d be a world champion.
But he only entered races he knew he could win.
He was afraid to lose, so he played it safe.
The second wasn’t as gifted, but he loved a challenge.
He only entered races where he’d be outmatched and fail miserably.
Just to learn and grow.
Guess who’s competing at the highest level?
It took a few years, but it wasn't even close.
The second athlete is now competing at the highest levels of triathlon.
The first one burned out, never lived up to his potential and went from a promising talent to a talent wasted.
Here’s why this matters to you:
There are two types of runners:
- Runners who want to get better and keep trying hard, even when it's tough. They feel happy when they learn something new.
- Runners who want to win and care most about beating other runners or their own times. They feel happy when they finish ahead of someone else.
Most focus only on results (winning, times, or public recognition.)
But if you want to reach your highest potential your main focus has to be learning, not results.
Because paradoxically the more you learn, the better you'll become and the faster you'll get.
So here's a tiny habit that will change everything:
Before every training take 60 seconds to answer this question:
What am I trying to learn in this session?
And then in your cool-down ask yourself this question:
What did I learn today?
This simple mindset shift (from chasing results to chasing growth) will make you improve a lot faster (and keep running fun in the process)
Most people won't do it.
The ones who do, will be the ones who win.
